Install Itsframe

Itsframe is a desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). The installer is an NSIS package, and the app keeps itself up to date after that.

  1. Download the installer

Get the Windows installer from the download page. A SHA-256 checksum is published with each release, so you can verify the file before running it.

  2. Run it & choose a scope

The installer can install just for you (no administrator needed) or for everyone on the PC, and it associates .lumen project files. It adds a Start-menu and desktop shortcut.

  3. Open the app

Start editing right away — the full professional editor runs with no account and no watermark.

  4. Sign in for cloud AI (optional)

To use Frami, the built-in AI assistant, open Integrations › Account & credits and link your device to enable its credit-metered cloud AI. The editor itself works fully offline.

If Windows shows a SmartScreen warning when you run the installer, it is because the build is not code-signed yet. See Troubleshooting for what to do.

Make your first project

Itsframe saves each edit as a .lumen project file. Projects survive being moved between folders and drives, keep a version history, and recover after a crash.

  1. New project

Create a new project from the start screen, or with Ctrl+N. Open an existing one with Ctrl+O.

  2. Save as you go

Save with Ctrl+S (or Save as… with Ctrl+Shift+S). Itsframe also keeps version history: every save, plus a snapshot every ten minutes while you edit, restorable at any time.

Import your media

Bring in video, audio and images. Files stay where they are on disk — nothing is copied or uploaded — and a missing file can be relinked later.

  1. Add files

Import with Ctrl+I, or drag and drop files or a whole folder into the Media panel.

  2. Supported formats

Video and audio: MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, MP3, WAV and FLAC. Images: PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF.

  3. Work on many at once

Ctrl-click or Shift-click a range (or drag a box, or Ctrl+A) to select several clips, then add, transcribe or remove them together.

For 4K footage, Itsframe makes a small proxy in the background so playback stays smooth. Exports and frame grabs always use the original file.

Timeline basics

The timeline has a magnetic main track that stays gap-free, with free tracks above and below for B-roll, overlays, titles, captions, voice and music. These are the moves that cover most edits — the full set is in the editing guide.

  1. Play & move

Space plays and pauses. ← / → step one frame; ↑ / ↓ jump between edit points.

  2. Split & trim

Split the clip under the playhead with S. Drag a clip's edge to trim it. Delete the selection with Delete, or ripple-delete (closing the gap) with Shift+Delete.

  3. Undo anything

Every change is undoable: Ctrl+Z to undo, Ctrl+Shift+Z to redo. Ctrl+K opens the command palette, which reaches every command.

Export your video

When your edit is ready, render it to a file with hardware encoding.

  1. Open the export dialog

Export with Ctrl+E. Choose the format and codec: MP4 (H.264, HEVC, AV1), MOV (H.264, HEVC), WebM (VP9 or AV1, with transparency), a numbered PNG sequence, an animated GIF, or audio only (WAV / M4A).

  2. Pick resolution & frame rate

From 480p to 4K in your timeline's shape, at 24–60 fps, with a live file-size estimate. Hardware encoding runs on Intel, NVIDIA and AMD graphics; if an encoder fails, Itsframe falls back to another codec or the processor on its own.

  3. Captions & the render queue

Burn captions into the video or save them as an SRT / WebVTT file beside it. Line several exports up in the render queue (Ctrl+Shift+E) to render one after another while you keep editing.
